1ST COORDINATION GROUP MEETING
Sofia, December 15-16, 2022
The first event in the timeframe of Sofia’s Presidency of Balkan Countries CHOD's Forum - 1st Coordination Group (CG) Meeting was held in Rakovski National Defense College in Sofia from 15th to 16th December, 2022.
The aim of the meeting was to define and adopt Task Lists for CG, Education, Training and Exercise Sub-Working Group (ETESWG) and Asymmetric Threats Sub-Working Group (ATSWG) and to reach agreement on the Working Calendar for preparation of the 16th Conference on Military Cooperation, scheduled to take place in Sofia in May, 2023.
The main emphasis of the discussions during the meeting was the action items deriving from the Balkan CHODs’ Joint Statement from the 15th Conference on Military Cooperation, held in Ohrid in June, 2022 under Skopje Presidency.
A separate session was dedicated to the reports of the Sub-Working Groups’ Chairs, who presented the respective main priorities for the work during Sofia Presidency.
Important information regarding the schedule of annual Joint Common Exercises was provided by Tirana and Skopje representatives.
Tirana will be hosting Exercise “Strong Balkan 2023” from 31st October to 12th November, 2023 and the Initial Planning Conference for the exercise is scheduled for 21st – 24th February, 2023.
In 2024 Joint Common Exercise will be organized by Skopje.
The Meeting was held in a friendly and constructive manner and provided a solid basis for successful achievement of the Coordination Group’s objectives.
2nd Meeting of the Coordination Group will be held in Sofia from 8th to 10th March, 2023.
